The design of the teaching intervention used in the Sci-napse project is based two area of theory: uncertain reward and play and learning. These theories have influenced the design of a teaching tool that incorporates chance rewards, and the effective pedagogic practices for using that tool. The Sci-napse tool is underpinned by neuroscience theory on the value of uncertain rewards for enhancing learning. The pedagogy is driven by an understanding of theory related to play and learning.
